But those images cannot diagnose any cases because they are two-dimensional images. The conventional computed tomography can be used in some cases, but there are big problems about radiation dose, resolution of images and the cost of examinations. Therefore, the newly computed tomography for dental use was developed whose name was \"3DX multi image micro CT\" (3DX, J. Morita. MFG, Kyoto, Japan). The advantages of this system are very low dose, small in size and distinct tomographic images. The 3D sectional images by this system are very useful especially for dental use. The purpose of this study was to analyze these cases, and investigate the usefulness of 3DX. The first system was run in Matsumoto Dental University Hospital in May 2001. The cases investigated monthly and total number of cases, average, maximum and minimum ages of patients, gender and the condition of orders (objects, clinical, diagnosis etc) during one year. There were 150 cases from Jun 2001 to May 2002. The monthly number was 20 cases in Jun 2001. The maximum one was 43 cases in May 2002. The average age of patient was 34.4 years old (max.76, min.6). The gender was 70 females and 80 males. The distribution of clinical diagnosis was as follows; Impacted teeth 37 cases, apical periodontitis 35 cases, implant 15 cases, temporomandibular disorder 12 cases, supernumerary teeth 7 cases, fracture 4 cases and other diseases were 40 cases. According to the analysis of 150 cases, it is proved that 3DX is very useful for dental clinics.
